Uzbekistan and Pakistan to Further Expand Cooperation in Industry, Investment, and Trade

During the meeting, the parties discussed strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Pakistan, the practical implementation of agreements reached at the level of the two countries’ leaders, and priority areas of bilateral cooperation.
Particular attention was given to expanding industrial cooperation, increasing the volume of trade and economic relations, developing collaboration in transport, transit, and logistics, implementing joint projects in the energy sector, as well as exploring promising opportunities for cooperation in the fields of geology and pharmaceuticals.
Haroon Akhtar Khan described the state visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan in February of this year as a significant historical event in the relations between the two countries.
"The foresight, strategic vision, and outstanding political wisdom of the leader of Uzbekistan left a deep impression on me, – he said. – We also highly appreciate the consistent implementation of large-scale reforms in Uzbekistan under the leadership of your Head of State, aimed at modernizing the economy, ensuring sustainable economic growth, improving public welfare, and strengthening regional cooperation. Uzbekistan’s rich experience in these areas is of great importance for Pakistan as well."
The sides exchanged views in detail on accelerating the implementation of agreements reached during the President of Uzbekistan’s state visit to Pakistan, expanding ties between the business communities of the two countries, and launching new joint investment and industrial projects.
The possibility of importing live livestock from Pakistan to Uzbekistan was also considered. The parties emphasized that cooperation in this area would contribute to ensuring food security and strengthening agricultural ties between the two countries.
In addition, the importance of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, which will be held in Tashkent from June 16 to 18 this year, was highlighted as a key platform for further deepening Uzbekistan–Pakistan economic and investment cooperation, developing new joint projects, and enhancing business relations.
The parties expressed confidence that the active participation of a high-level Pakistani delegation in this prestigious international economic forum would elevate trade, economic, and investment partnership between the two countries to a new stage.
