A Meeting with a Veteran of Uzbek Diplomacy, Renowned Urdu Expert and Translator Held at the Embassy
A meeting was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan with the participation of honorary diplomat, Urdu expert, and translator Toshmirza Kholmirzaev, who arrived in Islamabad on a working visit.

The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, Professor Mukhayyo Abdurakhmanova of the Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies, as well as members of the diplomatic mission.
During the event, Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev spoke about the activities of the Embassy and efforts to strengthen Uzbek-Pakistani relations, including economic diplomacy and cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, and culture.
The participants discussed prospects for the development of bilateral ties, including the expansion of educational and scientific cooperation, translation activities, and the professional training of young diplomats.
Toshmirza Kholmirzaev shared memories of his diplomatic work in Pakistan and his participation in the establishment of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad, noting the organizational difficulties and the initial stages of forming the diplomatic mission.
He emphasized the importance of personnel training and knowledge of the local language. “The local language plays a key role in diplomatic work. Without it, it is impossible to build effective relations,” he noted.
In turn, Professor Mukhayyo Abdurakhmanova highlighted the need to expand translation activities between the Uzbek and Urdu languages, which would help strengthen cultural ties and promote Uzbek literature in Pakistan.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to develop the “ustoz–shogird” (mentor–apprentice) system in the diplomatic sphere, expand academic exchanges between universities of the two countries, train Urdu specialists, and organize joint scientific events.
