Meat production volumes and quality to increase in Namangan

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the operations of the Namangan Sheep-Breeding Cluster in Turakurgan district.

The project was implemented thanks to the broad opportunities provided by the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 29, 2020, “On additional measures of state support for the livestock sector”.

The cluster, valued at $35 million, will be developed in three phases on a 10-hectare area.

Initially, 15,000 pedigree sheep will be imported. After the second stage, the flock is projected to grow by an additional 35,000 sheep. The breeds Arashan, Hissar, and Edilbay, known for their high productivity, will be adapted to the local climate.

Implementing modern animal husbandry technologies and scientific methods will open avenues for substantially boosting meat production and enhancing quality. Based on the project’s technical specifications, imported sheep weighing between 40-50 kilograms will be intensively fattened over three months, reaching a live weight of 100 kilograms. This process is expected to produce approximately 60-70 kilograms of dressed meat per animal.

As a result, productivity is expected to boost by 45-50% compared to traditional livestock farming methods. When the project is fully operational, the region will annually produce 35,000-40,000 tons of premium meat products.

The creation of 280 new permanent jobs, along with employment opportunities for members of 95 low-income families, will help improve the well-being of the local population.

In addition, modern logistics services, veterinary and service facilities, and retail outlets for selling products directly to consumers will be established at the complex. As a result, a complete and continuous chain of clusters will be formed.

Recognizing the enterprise’s experience as valuable for expanding the livestock sector, providing the domestic market with high-quality meat products, and boosting employment, the President directed officials to expand the project.
