Uzbekistan and Qatar: a new stage of cooperation in the field of labor migration
In recent years, the Republic of Uzbekistan has been carrying out large-scale reforms aimed at systematic, safe and humane management of labor migration. These measures not only ensure legal employment of citizens abroad, but also contribute to increasing their knowledge, professional qualifications and expanding opportunities for decent work.
Updated migration policy
At the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a Migration Agency was created under the Cabinet of Ministers, performing the functions the central body coordinating state policy in the field of labor migration. The main task of the Agency is to ensure the legal, safe and effective organization of labor migration, including vocational training of citizens and their subsequent reintegration.
The Agency’s activities are based on the principles of “human capital and decent work”. Today, migration is viewed not as an export of labor, but as an exchange of knowledge, experience and opportunities that contributes to sustainable development.
International cooperation and diversification
As part of expanding the geography of labor migration, representatives of the Migration Agency and other departments of Uzbekistan conducted official visits to 18 countries, where negotiations took place with 106 competent organizations. These countries include Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, Slovenia and others.
This initiative is aimed at diversifying Uzbekistan's participation in the international labor market and creating new legal and transparent employment channels.
Qatar is a new partner of Uzbekistan in the field of labor migration
The state of Qatar is becoming one of the new and promising partners of Uzbekistan. The high demand for qualified personnel in Qatar contributes to the active development of bilateral cooperation.
During official negotiations in Doha, the Uzbek delegation - representatives of the Migration Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Uzbekistan - met withDeputy Minister of Labor of Qatar Shaikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Soni.
The Qatari side expressed its readiness to significantly increase quotas to attract Uzbek workers.
"Currently, 560 citizens of Uzbekistan are working in Qatar. However, this is only a small part of the available potential. We are ready to repeatedly increase quotas and attract more citizens of Uzbekistan to work in leading companies in Qatar,” said Shaikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al Soni.
In addition, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan and the largest recruiting company in Qatar“Jusour”amemorandum of cooperationwas signed, providing for the preparation and employment of specialists in the fields of medicine, hotel business, tourism, IT and engineering.
A new stage in visa procedures
During negotiations with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Qatar, the country's leadership announced its readiness to introduce a system of issuing work visas for citizens of Uzbekistan within 10 days. This measure will significantly simplify labor migration procedures.
The parties also agreed to open vocational and language training centers in Uzbekistan that meet the requirements of the Qatari labor market.

Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar in the field of labor migration is reaching a new level. This partnership contributes to the sustainable development of both countries through the exchange of human capital, knowledge and professional skills.
