Uzbekistan and Russia leaders discuss current issues on the bilateral agenda

On March 24, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin had a phone call.
Current issues concerning the further development and strengthening of relations between Uzbekistan and Russia within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance were discussed in the context of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.
The rapid growth of trade and economic cooperation was noted with satisfaction. Last year, trade turnover increased by 10 percent to $13 billion, and since the start of this year, it has grown by an additional 32 percent.
Work on major cooperation projects in industry, energy, transportation, and other key economic sectors continues.
Special focus was placed on progressing the project to build Uzbekistan’s first nuclear power plant.
The joint Intergovernmental Commission’s effective activities on economic cooperation received high praise.
It was noted that the parties are actively preparing for the upcoming International Industrial Exhibition “INNOPROM. Central Asia”, to be held in Tashkent in April this year, which has become an effective platform for promoting new forms and projects of cooperation.
A discussion took place on current international issues, including the situation in the Middle East, South Asia, and Ukraine.
The upcoming events schedule was also reviewed.
