A modern infrastructure for tourism and the service sector is being created
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on January 23 inspected the activities of tourism and service facilities organized on Zarkainar Street in Khastim Almazar mahalla district.
Tourism is an area that, with relatively small investments, creates many jobs, increases the income of the population and improves the appearance of the territories. The city of Tashkent has ample opportunities in this direction.
In particular, in order to fully utilize this potential, a project covering an area of 447 hectares is being implemented in the Almazor district. Within its framework, tourist and service facilities will be built on 6 streets of district significance, connecting 15 mahallas.
Creative work on Zarkainar Street is part of this project. The historical appearance, the traditions of national architecture and the spirit of craftsmanship, formed over the centuries, are the hallmark of this area.
With funds allocated from the republican budget in the amount of 150 billion soums, 576 houses were restored here in the national style, giving the area an appearance that is in harmony with the historical environment.
One hundred entrepreneurs invested in the amount of 166 billion soums for the creation of 7 hotels, 8 restaurants, 5 craft centers, 1 shopping center, 125 service enterprises. Thanks to this, 1,500 citizens are provided with permanent jobs.
Getting acquainted with the renovated street, the head of our state examined the houses renovated in the national architectural style, landscaped streets and conditions created for the population. Had a sincere conversation with local residents, tourists, and artisans.
–We want to create conditions for tourists, but at the same time it is important to build the foundation correctly. For example, folk crafts are one of the key areas that reflect our national identity. Therefore, providing craftsmen with everything necessary for production is our direct task. It is also necessary to train qualified personnel. For this purpose, it is advisable to create a university of handicrafts. We are already meeting with entrepreneurs, now we are organizing separate meetings with artisans,” the President noted.
Responsible persons have been given specific instructions to further improve work in the areas of tourism and services, increase economic activity, while carefully preserving the historical appearance of mahallas and, most importantly, the formation of a sustainable system that serves the interests of people.
Here is the chapter our state presented a master plan for the territory of innovative growth “Olmazor”. The concept of spatial development, the results of a needs assessment, as well as solutions for the functional zoning of the territory were demonstrated.
According to the master plan, so-called “development corridors” will be formed, covering the areas of education and innovation, tourism and trade, cultural heritage, business and IT services.
Around the Old Town it is planned to connect the Student Town, universities and technology parks, healthcare facilities, as well as the Center for Islamic Civilization, the Hazrati Imam complex, the Chorsu market and the historical center of the city. In addition, the development of offices, an IT park and business centers is planned in the northern business part.
The purpose of implementing the master plan is to preserve the historical heritage, while developing modern infrastructure, as well as to bring the economic potential and urban environment of the area to a qualitatively new level.
– For each street it is necessary to develop a master plan for at least five years. Yesterday in Davos, Switzerland, I saw how the urban environment is being developed while preserving existing buildings, taking into account local conditions. We, too, must protect the Old City and, moreover, develop it. For this, a separate program called “Old City” should be prepared,” the President noted.
