Negotiations between the delegations of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan took place in an expanded format
Negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov continued in an expanded format with the participation of official delegations of the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of our country emphasized that the state visit of the President of Turkmenistan is a clear confirmation of the inviolability of the centuries-old ties of friendship and good neighborliness between the two peoples.
Current issues of further expansion of the Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good neighborliness and strategic partnership were considered.
The work done in the fields of trade, transport, energy, water management and other important areas was highly appreciated.
– Of course, this is a huge merit of the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, respected Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, said the President.
Mutual trade has doubled in recent years, exceeding $1 billion. All possibilities are indicated for bringing this indicator to 2 billion by expanding the range and effectively using the free trade regime.
The launch of the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone will also contribute to increasing trade turnover. An agreement was reached to scale this experience to other territories, primarily in the Alat-Farab region.
In order to expand industrial cooperation, the importance of actively attracting business to the launch of new projects for the production of building materials, pharmaceuticals, food and other popular goods was noted.
Effective and mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector has been built. It was agreed to move on to larger-scale projects, including the joint development of promising fields.
The connecting link between the economies of the two countries is the transport sector. The volume of cargo transportation is growing, customs and logistics procedures are being simplified. The parties agreed to jointly develop the port of Turkmenbashi and resume direct flights between the capitals.
For the timely implementation of the agreements reached, regular meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Business Council will be held before the end of the year.
The leaders stated that the humanitarian sphere is a strong foundation for multifaceted ties. The successful holding of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan and the demonstration of Turkmen films in Urgench and Tashkent was noted.
To maintain the dynamics of interaction, the parties agreed to regularly hold mutual concerts and theater tours, organize a Youth Forum in Khiva, and continue the practice of creating joint films.
Exchanges in the field of health and medical care will be intensified science.
Following the negotiations, the heads of state instructed to adopt a comprehensive “road map” for the implementation of all agreements reached.
