Proposals for the development of the electrical industry were considered
On October 8, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the presentation of measures to further develop the electrical industry and increase the export potential of the industry.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been carrying out consistent reforms in this direction, creating modern production facilities, and increasing production and export volumes. Thus, over the nine months of this year, production volume in the industry increased by 16.3 percent and reached 34 trillion soums, exports amounted to $970 million.
At the same time, significant untapped opportunities remain in the industry. In particular, the tasks of increasing the share of products with high added value, advanced processing of copper and diversification of exports remain relevant. Currently, only about 60 percent of exports of copper products are goods with high added value.
The presentation discussed proposals aimed at stimulating deep processing of raw materials and further supporting domestic producers. In particular, it is envisaged to provide enterprises with discounts on the purchase of raw materials, compensation by the state for part of the interest rate on loans exceeding 5 percent, as well as the provision of tax and customs benefits.
It is noted that, along with the production of traditional types of products, it is necessary to actively develop high-tech areas, including the development of electronics and the semiconductor industry.
By According to forecasts, in the coming years, copper production in the country will reach 250 thousand tons, and by 2030 - 500 thousand tons. Responsible managers reported on projects aimed at using this raw material base to produce products with high added value. Among them is the production of servers, industrial electronics, air conditioners, solar panels, instrumentation and automation, as well as smart cards. In general, the industry has formed a portfolio of 157 projects with a total value of $2.1 billion, the implementation of which will create 14.5 thousand new jobs.
During the event, the activities of electrical technology parks in the regions of the country were also reviewed.
Today, opportunities for promoting domestic products to international markets are expanding. The Uzbek Standards Institute has been accepted as a member of the International Electrotechnical Commission assessment scheme, which ensures the recognition of certificates of Uzbek manufacturers in 53 countries.
In addition, the Technical Regulation Agency, together with European partners, is establishing a conformity assessment system. This will make it possible to assign the “CE” mark to Uzbek goods, confirming compliance with the requirements of the European Union, which will open up the opportunity to at least double exports to European markets.
The head of state gave specific instructions to accelerate the implementation of planned measures and projects, maintain export growth rates and develop new foreign markets.
