Prospects for Cooperation in the Pharmaceutical Sector with a Pakistani Company Discussed

The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher To‘xtayev, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency Abdulla Azizov, and Chairman of “Lucky Core Industries Limited” Atif Siddiqi.
At the beginning of the meeting, Ambassador Alisher To‘xtayev delivered remarks, providing detailed information on the large-scale socio-economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan, particularly state programs aimed at the rapid development of the pharmaceutical sector. He also highlighted the favorable conditions created for foreign investors, mechanisms supporting investment activities, and promising projects. Reforms aimed at ensuring the legal protection of investors’ rights were also emphasized.
In his speech, Agency Director Abdulla Azizov focused on the establishment and development of pharmaceutical clusters in Uzbekistan, modernization of production infrastructure, support for local manufacturers, enhancement of export potential, and the favorable conditions created for foreign investors.
Information was also provided on efforts being carried out within the cluster system to ensure integration between research institutions, manufacturing enterprises, and educational institutions, as well as the implementation of innovative projects, introduction of modern technologies, and production of high value-added products.
In addition, representatives of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency delivered a detailed presentation on projects being offered to foreign investors.
For his part, Chairman of “Lucky Core Industries Limited” Atif Siddiqi highly praised the reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan’s economy and noted that they are being closely monitored. He also emphasized the company’s strong interest in implementing promising investment projects in the pharmaceutical sector of Uzbekistan.
“It is possible to supply certain high-demand medicines to the Uzbek market using the company’s production capacities in Pakistan. At the next stage, there is an opportunity to implement joint projects aimed at import substitution through localization, that is, the production of these medicines within Uzbekistan,” he said.
During the negotiations, specialists from the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency provided answers to all questions of interest to the Pakistani side.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to continue dialogue through diplomatic channels in order to establish mutually beneficial cooperation and further study the proposed investment projects.
