The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan confirmed their commitment to further expansion of full-scale cooperation
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov in the city of Ashgabat.
The head of our state sincerely congratulated the President and fraternal people of Turkmenistan on the 30th anniversary of the declaration of the country's neutrality, the organization at a high level of the International Forum dedicated to this significant date and the declaration of 2025 as the “International Year of Peace and Trust.”
Particular attention was paid to issues of further expansion Uzbek-Turkmen relations of strategic partnership in the context of the implementation of agreements reached during the recent state visit of the President of Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan.
Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has reached about one billion dollars. The Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone is operating successfully. Cargo transportation volumes increased by 30 percent, including through the port of Turkmenbashi. Active humanitarian and interregional exchanges continue.
The importance of taking, during the upcoming meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Business Council and the Forum of Regions, effective measures to significantly increase trade volumes and effectively promote joint cooperation projects in sectors of the economy, including energy, agriculture, transport and others, was emphasized.
