The presidents of Uzbekistan and Slovenia took part in a joint business forum
On May 22, as part of the business program of their stay in the city of Ljubljana, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Slovenia Natasha Pirc Musar took part in a joint business forum.
The event was attended by managers and representatives of over 100 leading industrial and trading enterprises of the two countries.
Slovenian business was represented by such companies as KRKA, Duol, Emo Frite, Panvita, Medex, Tajfun Planina, Altado, UVC Solutions, Riko and many others.
In his speech, the Head of our state noted that the fruitful negotiations at the highest level that took place today opened a new page in Uzbek-Slovenian relations, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres.
It was emphasized that in the current difficult period in the global economy, it is important to use the opportunities to increase mutual trade, expand the scale of cooperation and diversify national economies.
The goal is to increase the volume of mutual trade to 500 million euros in the coming years by expanding the range and volume of mutual supplies, including textiles and fruits and vegetables, mineral fertilizers, copper products, pharmaceuticals, technological equipment and other goods with high added value.
The importance of adopting the Program for the Development of Industrial Cooperation in sectors where the economies of the two countries can complement each other was noted.
The President of Uzbekistan outlined the key areas of further economic partnership. These include localization of the production of pharmaceuticals, production of electrical equipment, food products, storage and processing of fruits and vegetables, construction and modernization of green energy facilities.
Particular attention is paid to the development of transport interconnectivity, including through the use of the capabilities of the Slovenian port "Koper" and the establishment of direct flights between the two countries.
It is noted that the visa-free regime introduced in Uzbekistan for citizens of Slovenia will contribute to the development of business, humanitarian and tourist exchanges.
The leader of Uzbekistan drew the participants’ attention to the special industrial park being created in our country for European companies, where unique conditions for business will be provided. He invited Slovenian companies to become one of the first residents of this special zone.
The head of our state highly appreciated the interest shown by the business circles of Slovenia in developing a mutually beneficial partnership with Uzbekistan, which voiced their specific proposals and plans.
Finally, in the presence of the Presidents of the two countries, a ceremony for the exchange of bilateral trade, economic and investment agreements took place agreements.

The program of the official visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Slovenia has ended.
The first Uzbek-Slovenian summit in the last 20 years marked a new stage in history of bilateral relations.
During the visit, substantive negotiations took place with the President of the Republic of Slovenia Natasa Pirc Musar, Prime Minister Robert Golob and the President of the National Assembly Urška Klakocar-Zupancic.
The parties discussed a wide range of issues covering politics, economics, investment, industrial cooperation, ecology, culture, tourism and education.
A Joint Statement was adopted, as well as a solid package of intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements that consolidated agreements on priority areas.
The culmination of the visit was the Uzbek-Slovenian business forum with the participation of heads of state and representatives of about 100 leading companies of the two countries.
In At Ljubljana International Airport, the distinguished guest was seen off by the Minister of Internal Affairs Boštjan Poklukar and other officials. The leader of Uzbekistan left for the city of Tashkent.
