The President of Uzbekistan received the newly elected Director General of UNESCO
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Khaled Al-Anani, elected to the post of Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, on November 12 (UNESCO).
The results of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand and the prospects for further development of cooperation with this authoritative UN institution were considered.
At the beginning of the conversation, the head of our state congratulated Khaled Al-Anani on his election to a high post, wishing him success in his future activities.
In turn, the elected Director General expressed special gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for the support and high level of organization of the main UNESCO event.
The systematic and fruitful interaction between Uzbekistan and UNESCO, covering a wide range of areas, was noted with satisfaction. The parties' commitment to further intensifying cooperation, including expanding the Organization's project activities in our country was confirmed.
UNESCO's readiness to jointly implement strategic initiatives put forward by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan at the opening ceremony of the General Conference was emphasized.
