The President of Uzbekistan accepted credentials from the newly appointed foreign ambassadors
On November 27, a solemn ceremony of presenting credentials to newly appointed foreign ambassadors to our country took place.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received letters of credence from the Ambassadors Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Greek Republic Paraskevi Tseveleki, the Republic of Indonesia City Ruhaini Zhuhayatin, the Latvian Republic Girts Jaunzems, the French Republic Valid Fuka, the Russian Federation Alexey Erkhov, Japan Kenji Hirata and the Republic of Tajikistan Nasriddin Ismatullo.
Chapter of our state sincerely congratulated the heads of diplomatic missions on the beginning of their mission in New Uzbekistan.
It was noted that in the current difficult period, when complex geopolitical and economic problems are rapidly escalating in the world, the activities of diplomats are becoming increasingly important.
– You have been in our country for several months and see with your own eyes how quickly our state is developing and turning into one of the centers of the world diplomacy, said the President.
In particular, this year the Tashkent International Investment Forum and the meeting of the Council of Foreign Investors, the 150th anniversary assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the first Central Asia-EU summit and the international Climate Forum, the historic session of the UNESCO General Conference and the summit of the heads of state of Central Asia were successfully held this year.
In recent years, at the initiative of Uzbekistan, 13 resolutions of the UN General Assembly have been adopted.
This year, our country rose by 19 positions in the Global Sustainable Development Goals Index and entered the top five countries that showed the highest results over the past 10 years. Over the past 8 years, the economy has more than doubled. The poverty rate fell from 35 to 6.6 percent.
As a result of the policy of openness, a visa-free regime has been introduced for almost 100 countries. The geography of exports is steadily expanding. This year, foreign trade turnover exceeded $66 billion for the first time in history. The volume of attracted foreign investments reached 39 billion.
The Head of State also expressed special gratitude to the governments of the represented countries for their active support of Uzbekistan’s accession to the World Trade Organization.
Addressing the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic, the President noted that Greece is one of the traditional and promising partners of our country in the European Union.
This year, bilateral political consultations were successfully held. The Greek Embassy in Tashkent began its activities in April.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of mutual trade has increased 5 times. The importance of promoting cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, light and food industries, energy, information technology and transport was noted.
The need to ensure the effectiveness of the meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission and the Uzbek-Greek business forum scheduled for the near future in Tashkent was noted.
Speaking about relations with the Republic of Indonesia, the President noted that our peoples Since ancient times, they have been linked by historical, religious and cultural ties.
It is emphasized that since the beginning of the year, trade turnover between the two countries has increased by 60 percent. Joint ventures are operating successfully in the chemical industry, agriculture, telecommunications and tourism. Direct flights will be established in December.
Confidence was expressed that holding a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum in Tashkent next year, as well as political consultations in Jakarta, will yield significant results.
During the discussion of relations with the Republic of Latvia, the head of our state noted the progressive development of political and economic ties, the intensification of contacts between business circles.
Over the past 5 years, Uzbekistan's exports to Latvia and the number of joint ventures have tripled.
The office of the Latvian Investment and Development Agency operates in our country.
Uzbekistan Culture Days and the Rectors' Forum were recently successfully held in Riga.
It was emphasized that the signing of an agreement in the field of migration, an increase in the number of flights and the effective use of economic cooperation mechanisms will contribute to the further rapprochement of the peoples of the two states.
Speaking of the French Republic, the President emphasized that thanks to an active political dialogue, relations between our countries have been raised to the level of strategic partnership. The first meeting of the Strategic Planning Group took place last month.
During a historic high-level visit to Paris in March this year, joint projects worth $10 billion were agreed upon. Since the beginning of the year, mutual trade has exceeded $1.2 billion.
The Cooperation Program with the French Development Agency until 2030 was approved. A joint Uzbek-French university has been opened.
The Days of Culture of Uzbekistan and the exhibition of tourism potential held in Paris this year contributed to the further rapprochement of our peoples.
The need to hold the first meeting of the Joint Investment Council and the Interregional Forum next year was noted.
The Russian Federation is a time-tested strategic partner and ally of Uzbekistan.
Last year, the volume of mutual trade approached $12 billion. In our country there are more than 3 thousand enterprises with the participation of Russian capital. Since the beginning of the year, $4 billion of investments have been disbursed. Branches of 15 Russian universities operate effectively.
This year, a meeting of the Interparliamentary Commission, the International Industrial Exhibition "INNOPROM", the Council of Regional Heads, political consultations, the Forum of Rectors, Days of Russian Culture and other events were held.
The importance of a fruitful meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic cooperation, as well as intensifying interregional dialogue.

At the end of the ceremony the head of our state wished the newly appointed ambassadors great success in their honorable mission, called for effective use of all available opportunities to strengthen partnerships, and recommended active interaction with regions and representatives of private business.
In turn, the diplomats expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and the conditions created for their fruitful work, and emphasized their readiness to use all their professional experience and knowledge to actively promote multifaceted cooperation with Uzbekistan.
