The President of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of increasing trade, economic and investment cooperation with the European Union
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received on November 27 the delegation of the European Union led by the European Commissioner for International Partnerships Josef Sichela and European Commissioner for Enlargement Martha Kos, who is in our country on a working visit.
The issues of developing trade, economic and investment cooperation were considered in the context of the implementation of agreements reached during a high-level visit to Brussels in October this year.
EU representatives conveyed the President's sincere greetings to the head of Uzbekistan of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
The Leader of Uzbekistan congratulated the European Commissioners on the successful holding in Tashkent of the third economic forum "Central Asia - EU" and the Investor Forum on the Trans-Caspian Corridor and Transport Connectivity, as a result of which a number of new joint regional projects were launched scale.
The dynamic development of Uzbek-European relations, the formation of a new comprehensive agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation were noted with satisfaction.
This year, the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) was signed with the European Union, summits were held in Samarkand and Brussels, and negotiations with the EU on accession were completed Uzbekistan in the WTO.
Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by almost 7 percent. It was emphasized that the practical implementation of the CPSU will contribute to a multiple increase in trade volumes and the influx of investment.
The importance of further improving institutional mechanisms of cooperation to expand and diversify the range of trade, develop new joint investment projects in the field of industrial cooperation, transport, digitalization, critical minerals, energy, healthcare and other priority sectors was noted.
There was also an exchange of views on current issues on the international and regional agenda.
