The President of Uzbekistan noted the important results of fruitful cooperation with the Inter-Parliamentary Union
On April 7, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the delegation of the Inter-Parliamentary Union consisting of the Chairman of this authoritative structure Tulia Exxon and Secretary General Martin Chungong.
High representatives of the Inter-Parliamentary Union sincerely congratulated the head of our state on the successful organization of the anniversary Assembly of the Union in the city of Tashkent and the keynote speech at its plenary session.
It was emphasized that holding such a large-scale forum in Uzbekistan and full support for the initiatives put forward is international recognition of the results of irreversible reforms in New Uzbekistan, especially in the field of development of parliamentarism.
The highest level and fruitful nature of interaction with the Union was noted with satisfaction.
In recent years, the inter-parliamentary Forum on the Sustainable Development Goals in the city of Bukhara and the 14th Summit of Women Parliamentary Leaders in the city have been jointly organized Tashkent.
In addition, a special resolution of the UN General Assembly was adopted on strengthening the role of parliaments in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
During the conversation, the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening peace and constructive dialogue between countries and peoples, expanding legislative activities in the field of green development and artificial intelligence, and implementing programs to improve involvement of women and youth in parliamentary activities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, for his great contribution to the development of cooperation and effective promotion of the tasks of parliamentary diplomacy, the President of Uzbekistan personally awarded the Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Martin Chungong with the Order of "Dustlik".
It should be noted that in 2017, Uzbekistan resumed participation in the work of the Union and today is fully represented in its executive structures.
