President of Uzbekistan: every achievement and result, first of all, serves to enhance human dignity, ensure his rights and interests
In accordance with the decrees of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on the occasion of the 34th anniversary of the independence of Uzbekistan, representatives of various fields were awarded honorary titles and orders and medals.
On August 27, the ceremony of presenting these awards took place in Tashkent.
The head of state congratulated everyone on Independence Day and elaborated on the essence of the ongoing transformations and the results achieved.
– Today we all see what enormous results are being achieved by the reforms that have become irreversible in the New Uzbekistan. Our gross domestic product has been growing rapidly for the past eight years, reaching $115 billion today. For the first time, I would like to voice another figure: according to forecasts by the International Monetary Fund, this year the economic volume will exceed $130 billion. We have never had such growth rates and such a high international rating,” noted Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Such results were made possible thanks to active support for entrepreneurship, the construction of modern industrial complexes, the transition to a “green” and innovative economy, the development of renewable energy sources, information technology, tourism and financial services.
Modern cities are being built in the country, villages are being improved and mahallas. In eight years, apartment buildings with almost 500 thousand apartments were built - four times more than in the first 25 years of independence. 60 trillion soums were allocated to improve the infrastructure of mahallas, villages and roads. 130 billion foreign investments have been attracted, over 100 thousand projects have been implemented, more than 7 million citizens have received a source of income.
– These enormous historical achievements are the result of large-scale and thoughtful reforms, and most importantly, changes in the thinking and worldview of our people. Buildings under construction, modern complexes, comfortable houses, schools, kindergartens, medical, cultural and sports institutions clearly demonstrate the economic power and creative potential of New Uzbekistan. The most important thing is that no matter what area of success is achieved, each result, first of all, serves to enhance human dignity, ensure human rights and interests, the head of state emphasized.
Over the past eight years, six times more funds have been allocated for social infrastructure than before. As a result, the number of places in kindergartens increased from 720 thousand to 2.5 million. 466 new schools were built, a million student places were created. The number of students increased from 279 thousand to 1.5 million, higher education coverage reached 42 percent.
Last week, in honor of Entrepreneurs' Day, 168 of the most advanced representatives of business, agricultural workers and farmers were awarded high state awards.
– I will always support and encourage such devoted compatriots and their initiatives. This is no coincidence. You know well: before we mainly exported raw materials. Today, the industry has grown from $29 billion in 2017 to $70 billion. Would we have achieved such results without creating conditions for entrepreneurs? Of course not, the President said.
It was noted that today business representatives have become a real pillar of the economy. Just look at the construction industry: it has not developed at such a pace before. If earlier construction was carried out only under government orders, today the number of private construction companies has exceeded 30 thousand, the volume of production of building materials has approached 6 billion dollars. Uzbekistan has turned into a huge construction site. Last year alone, $21 billion worth of construction work was completed—three times more than in 2017.
Similar colossal changes are taking place in agriculture, the textile industry, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, pharmaceuticals.
Particular attention is paid to the development of the service sector.
– If earlier tourism exports did not even reach 500 million dollars, today this figure has exceeded 3 billion. Seven or eight years ago, few people believed in the possibility of exporting IT products worth a billion dollars. The main thing is that new knowledge and modern technologies have come to all industries. This led to the creation of hundreds of thousands of jobs and the training of an army of highly qualified specialists. Each area has formed its own strategy and school of experience of the New Uzbekistan.
Your worthy contribution, dear compatriots, is also in the creation of such a new history, a new image of our country. For this, I express my deep gratitude to you,” the head of state added.
The President also congratulated the citizens who accepted the awards in the regions.
Then the awardees were solemnly presented with badges of honorary titles, orders and medals.
- The highest goal of our independence is attention to people, raising their dignity and labor, improving the lives of our noble people. We all feel this especially deeply at these moments. May the great happiness of seeing a worthy assessment of your work and being respected by society never leave you, the President said.
The awardees expressed gratitude for the high attention and expressed good wishes to the people of Uzbekistan.
