President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the RomPharm NS pharmaceutical plant.
The Presidential Decree “On Additional Measures to Accelerate the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry,” dated January 28, 2025, supports the expansion of the industry’s production capacity and the introduction of modern technologies.
The RomPharm NS plant in Tashkent’s Almazar district is a notable example of these efforts.
The plant aims to provide the domestic market with high-quality pharmaceutical products and expand the production of import-substituting medicines. Its annual production capacity is expected to reach 1 billion tablets, 500 million capsules, and 120 million sachets.
The plant is one of the first pharmaceutical facilities in Central Asia with a full production cycle and a quality control laboratory operating in accordance with EU GMP standards.
The total cost of the project is €45 million. The plant occupies 1.7 hectares and has created 150 new jobs. Ninety percent of its production processes are automated. Modern equipment has been supplied from Italy, Germany, Austria, the United States, Switzerland, and Bulgaria.
The plant’s products are aimed entirely at import substitution. Production focuses primarily on medicines used in neurology and cardiology, as well as medicines for regulating metabolic processes and treating inflammatory diseases.
During the visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of expanding production capacity through modern technologies and supplying the domestic market with high-quality pharmaceutical products. He noted that the key objectives are to reduce dependence on imports and create new jobs in the industry.
The President was also briefed on the plant’s future plans.
