President of Uzbekistan receives Belarusian delegation

On July 20, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Republic of Belarus led by Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich.

At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed the warm greetings and best wishes of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to the President of Uzbekistan.

The parties discussed current issues related to the further expansion of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Belarus.

They expressed satisfaction with the productive outcomes of the President of Uzbekistan’s official visit to Minsk on July 8-9, particularly in trade and economic cooperation.

The sides emphasized the importance of the timely implementation of the adopted Action Plan aimed at increasing bilateral trade to $2 billion and advancing cooperation projects in priority sectors of the economy.

Particular attention was given to drawing on Belarus's experience in developing Uzbekistan's first nuclear power plant and its supporting infrastructure.

This includes providing expert support throughout the design, construction, and operation of the future plant, training national specialists for the industry, and launching joint programs between relevant higher education institutions.
