President discusses expanding partnership with UN-Habitat on sustainable urban development

On May 18, on the sidelines of the World Urban Forum, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Director of the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) Anacláudia Rossbach.
The sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation with UN-Habitat on sustainable urban development, improving urban infrastructure, and implementing modern approaches to urban planning.
Progress in implementing the agreements reached during last year’s Samarkand Climate Forum was also reviewed. The importance of further strengthening cooperation was emphasized, including the preparation of a joint roadmap, the promotion of relevant projects, and the expansion of expert collaboration.
The parties also exchanged views on the practical implementation of the initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan at the World Urban Forum.
