With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan, a videoconference meeting was organized between the leadership of the Uzbekistan Agency for the Development of the Light Industry and Pakistan’s “Rajby Industries” company.
The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtayev, Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Agency for the Development of the Light Industry Rukhillo Zikrillaev, Director of “Rajby Industries” Masood Naqi, and others.
During the negotiations, the Pakistani side was provided with detailed information about the existing opportunities, ongoing reforms, and priority areas for the development of the textile industry in Uzbekistan. In particular, special emphasis was placed on the country’s rich raw material base, its capacity for cotton cultivation and processing, the steady growth of production volumes, and the expanding geography of exports.
In addition, attention was given to the favorable conditions created for foreign investors, including tax and customs incentives, the activities of free economic zones, existing free trade agreements with CIS countries, and the advantages within the framework of the European Union’s “GSP+” preferential trade regime.
The parties discussed the establishment of a joint venture with the participation of “Rajby Industries” on the basis of one of the 29 textile enterprises in Uzbekistan that are not operating at full capacity, as well as launching production on an outsourcing basis.
Moreover, opportunities for introducing modern technologies, producing high value-added products, and creating new jobs were specifically considered.
“The textile sector in Uzbekistan is developing rapidly. Finished textile products manufactured in the country are in high demand on the global market. We see an opportunity to establish a company in Uzbekistan and organize production based on orders from international brands. In the future, we plan to export these products to the U.S. and European markets. At the same time, the Central Asian market is also developing rapidly, and demand for high-quality products is increasing. In short, ‘Rajby Industries’ is ready to closely cooperate with Uzbekistan’s textile industry,” said Masood Naqi.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to accelerate the implementation of the proposed initiatives, as well as to organize a practical visit of representatives of the Pakistani company to Uzbekistan to familiarize themselves on-site with existing production capacities and investment opportunities.
