A Leading Bank of Pakistan to Support the Development of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in Navoi Region

During a working visit to the city of Karachi, a delegation from the Navoi region held a meeting with the management of Sindh Bank.

The meeting was attended by Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev, Governor (Hokim) of Navoi Region Normat Tursunov, President of the Pakistani bank Anwar Shaikh, Deputy CEO Syed Asad Ali Shah, and other representatives.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed in detail the establishment of mutual cooperation between the banking systems of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.

The President of Sindh Bank noted that, with the support of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, consistent efforts are being made to build partnerships with several leading banks in the country. He also highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan’s banking sector and the achievements of its financial institutions.

The main focus of the meeting was on attracting foreign investment to the Navoi region, financing industrial and agricultural projects, supporting small and medium-sized businesses, and expanding credit mechanisms. The parties also discussed the introduction of digital banking services and fintech solutions, as well as strengthening interbank cooperation.

Following the meeting, the sides reached an agreement to move banking cooperation into a practical phase, identify priority investment areas, and develop joint programs.

It is expected that cooperation with Sindh Bank will help increase investment inflows into the region, enhance industrial and production capacity, support entrepreneurship, develop modern digital banking services, and expand international economic ties.
