The delegation of Uzbekistan led by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov participated in the Uzbekistan – Portugal Business Forum held in Lisbon.
The forum brought together representatives of leading Portuguese companies and investment communities, where particular emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing sustainable supply chains, improving the investment climate, and developing interregional cooperation amid changes in the global economy.
It was also noted that there is strong potential for deepening cooperation in such areas as engineering, agriculture, energy, transport, tourism, and information technology.
The forum revealed the complementary strengths of the two countries’ economies and demonstrated the mutual interest in developing sustainable, innovation-driven cooperation.
The head of the Foreign Ministry expressed gratitude to J.Paish, Vice President of the Portuguese Industrial Association, for his support in organizing the business forum.
On the same day, Bakhtiyor Saidov met with Paulo Rangel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
During the meeting, particular attention was paid to advancing Uzbekistan – Portugal relations to a new stage, intensifying political dialogue, and expanding trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
The sides agreed to launch joint projects in such areas as agro-industry, infrastructure, green energy, tourism, transport, as well as cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministries aimed at the exchange of information and the mutual sharing of best practices was also signed.
This document will serve to further strengthen bilateral ties, deepen institutional dialogue, and establish effective mechanisms for cooperation.
