On October 1, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov had a phone conversation with Ronald Ozzy Lamola, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of the Republic of South Africa.
South Africa is one of Uzbekistan’s important partners on the African continent. The parties welcomed the positive momentum emerging in their bilateral relations.
Concrete steps were discussed to intensify political dialogue, expand trade and investment ties, and advance joint projects.
Particular attention was given to cooperation within the Non-Aligned Movement. Interest was expressed in South Africa’s active participation in the events to be held during Uzbekistan’s Chairmanship of the Movement in 2027–2030.
The launch of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation and the further development of the bilateral legal framework were also addressed.
The parties agreed to meet in person in the near future and work together to advance the initiatives discussed during today’s conversation.
