About the meeting with the regional director of the Center for the Development of International Migration Policy
On November 25, 2025, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Olimjon Abdullayev held a meeting with the Regional Director of the International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for Eastern Europe and Central Asia by Radim Zak.
During the negotiations, issues of expanding cooperation in the field of migration policy, simplifying visa procedures for citizens of Uzbekistan going to work in EU countries, as well as the participation of Uzbek specialists in ICMPD educational programs were discussed. The organization expressed its readiness to consider the possibilities of assistance in accelerating the coordination of intergovernmental documents and expanding professional retraining programs focused on the needs of the European labor market.
The parties also agreed on the further development of mechanisms for the sustainable reintegration of citizens returning from Sweden, and exchanged views on the implementation of the regional program BOMCA-11.
R. Zak was was informed of the positive decision to open a full-fledged representative office of ICMPD in Uzbekistan and confirmed the intention to strengthen practical cooperation in all areas discussed.
The International Center for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an intergovernmental organization founded in 1993 by Austria and Switzerland. Unites 21 member states and interacts with more than 200 international partners. It is one of the key platforms for the development and promotion of modern approaches to migration policy.
