Living and working conditions improve in Chim mahalla

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the improvements and employment measures in Chim mahalla, Qamashi district.

Chim is developing as a mahalla reflecting the image of New Uzbekistan. It is home to more than 5,500 people, nearly half of whom are young people.

A total of 55 billion UZS has been allocated for infrastructure improvements. This funding has supported the construction of a kindergarten for 240 children, a school for 640 students, mahalla and youth centers, and a recreational park. In addition, 4.5 kilometers of roads have been built, and the electricity supply and irrigation systems have been upgraded.

At a playground in the center of the mahalla, the Head of State spoke with children and their mothers. At the library, he asked young men and women about their goals and aspirations.

During the conversation marking Uzbek Language Day, the President recalled the works of Abdulla Oripov, Erkin Vohidov, and Halima Khudoyberdiyeva. He noted that increasing attention is being paid to the native language, national literature, and our ancestors’ heritage.

“Today, we value our language, self-awareness, and identity even more. People are once again showing an interest in reading books, and we are reviving our ancestors’ spiritual heritage. A spiritual environment and favorable conditions are also being fostered in Chim mahalla of Qamashi district”, the Head of State noted.

The President highlighted the growing opportunities for higher education and the importance of training educated professionals who are devoted to their homeland and the country’s future.

“While only 9 out of every 100 young people previously received higher education, today that number has risen to 45. Establishing universities and providing the necessary conditions for teaching staff is no easy task. However, Uzbekistan’s future requires professionals who possess a sense of national pride and love their homeland. I believe in you. The future of our beloved homeland and Kashkadarya is in your hands”, the President said.

New opportunities to increase household incomes have also emerged in Chim mahalla. A total of 3.5 billion UZS has been invested in an enterprise focused on carpet weaving and embroidery, employing women. With support from banks, greenhouses covering 0.36 hectares have been established at nearly 20 households, and a cold storage facility with a capacity of 200 tons has been built to store agricultural produce. These measures have employed more than 80 previously unemployed residents.

Lemon cultivation is being developed in the mahalla through a cooperative system. Residents receive seedlings, fertilizers, and agricultural services, and their harvests are purchased at guaranteed prices. By growing potatoes, broccoli, and leafy greens between the trees, each greenhouse generates an additional 14-16 million UZS in income.

In the mahalla, 70 entrepreneurs have expanded their operations, and 20 new businesses have opened. The number of service facilities along the highway has risen from 31 to 137, creating more than 200 new jobs. A total of 1,200 households in Chim and neighboring mahallas are cultivating marshmallow, a plant used in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, through cooperative arrangements.

Following his visit, the President met with mahalla activists and representatives of the older generation. They shared their views on the changes in the mahalla and offered prayers for the country’s prosperity and a bright future for young people.
