On March 20, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif.
The leaders of the two countries exchanged sincere congratulations on the occasion of Ramadan Hayit (Eid al-Fitr), a holy holiday for the entire Muslim Ummah, and the spring holiday of Navruz. Sincere wishes of peace, well-being, and continued prosperity were conveyed to the friendly peoples of Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
It was particularly emphasized that the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Pakistan in February this year brought bilateral relations of strategic partnership to a qualitatively new level.
The parties noted with satisfaction that, following the high-level visit, contacts at the level of ministries, agencies, and regions have noticeably intensified, and mutual exchanges are increasingly being enriched with concrete content and results.
During the conversation, the parties also expressed serious concern over the recent tensions in the regions of South Asia and the Middle East and stressed the need to resolve all issues exclusively through peaceful and diplomatic means.
