On April 3–5 of this year, the 5th “Pakistan Travel Mart” International Tourism Exhibition was held in Karachi, Pakistan. In addition, a roadshow was organized in Islamabad on April 7–8 as part of the event.
At this international tourism platform, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, together with the Tourism Committee, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, and Uzbekistan’s tourism brand ambassador in Pakistan, Hamid Mahmood, organized the National Pavilion of Uzbekistan.
The pavilion showcased to a wide audience the country’s extensive opportunities in educational, pilgrimage, cultural, business, and medical tourism, as well as its modern and convenient tourism infrastructure, higher education institutions, and famous tourist destinations. Through presentations and direct interactions, Uzbekistan’s competitiveness in the international tourism market, as well as its role as a regional education hub, were demonstrated.
At the same time, in order to further promote Uzbekistan’s educational tourism potential, the “Study in Uzbekistan” education exhibition was also organized. Within its framework, guests were provided with detailed information about opportunities to study at higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, available academic fields, including dual education programs.
The Uzbekistan pavilion was visited by Chairman of the Senate of Pakistan Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation Aftab ur Rehman Rana, and other officials. Pakistani representatives highly appreciated the consistent reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and expressed interest in studying and adopting Uzbekistan’s advanced experience.
As noted by the Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, direct air connections play a key role in further developing tourism ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. “Over the past two years, at the initiative of Uzbekistan’s leadership, regular flights have been launched by Uzbekistan Airways JSC on the Tashkent–Islamabad and Tashkent–Lahore routes. In addition, at the end of April this year, Centrum Air plans to introduce additional flights on the Tashkent–Lahore route. Such initiatives will further strengthen tourism relations between the two countries,” he stated.
Overall, Uzbekistan’s participation in the events of the 5th “Pakistan Travel Mart” International Tourism Exhibition made a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s position in Pakistan’s tourism market, increasing the flow of tourists from Pakistan, and expanding practical cooperation in the field of education.
