Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, held a meeting with Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements reached following the high-level talks held in Islamabad in February this year, the expansion of information exchange, the deepening of cooperation in television, mass communications, and the media sector, as well as the production of joint films.
Particular attention was given to the possibility of producing a multi-episode historical drama about the life of Zahir-ud-Din Muhammad Babur through cooperation between filmmakers of the two countries, organizing a special press tour to Uzbekistan for representatives of Pakistan’s leading media outlets, preparing joint television projects, video productions, and special reports, as well as conducting professional development courses, training programs, and media forums involving media representatives from both countries.
Minister Attaullah Tarar emphasized that the state visit of President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan on February 5–6 this year was highly productive and represented an important milestone in further strengthening strategic cooperation between the two countries.
“We are currently working on a special documentary film dedicated to the outcomes of the visits of Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif to Uzbekistan and President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Pakistan. We are also ready to cooperate in producing a short film about the life and legacy of Zahir-ud-Din Muhammad Babur. The film will focus on Babur’s childhood, his arrival in this region, and the establishment of his empire,” the Federal Minister said.
The two sides agreed to organize an online meeting between officials of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Culture, the Cinematography Agency, and Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting to initiate joint work on the film dedicated to Babur’s life and achievements.
In addition, a proposal was supported to send a creative delegation to Uzbekistan in two stages for the preparation of a series of materials highlighting the country’s economic, investment, and tourism potential. The first stage would involve well-known Pakistani bloggers, while the second stage would include representatives of Pakistani television channels, print media, and online publications.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further develop bilateral cooperation, continue dialogue on the issues discussed, and intensify practical efforts aimed at implementing the agreed initiatives.
