During the visit, the Leader of Uzbekistan held talks with Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
The leaders discussed key issues related to further strengthening Uzbek-Georgian friendship and multifaceted cooperation, as well as expanding practical cooperation in the political, trade and economic, investment, transport and transit, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Following the talks, a Declaration on the establishment of a strategic partnership was signed. The parties also exchanged a substantial package of bilateral documents aimed at deepening cooperation in priority areas.
At the Orbeliani Palace, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was awarded Georgia's highest state honor, the Order of the Golden Fleece.
The President of Uzbekistan also took part in the unveiling ceremony of a monument to the great poet and thinker Alisher Navoi in Tbilisi.
Upon the conclusion of the state visit, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev departed for Tashkent. At Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport, he was seen off by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
