A Pakistani company is planning to implement a large pharmaceutical project in Uzbekistan
With the assistance of our country’s embassy, an online meeting was organized between the Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Azizov, and the Special Representative of Pakistan on Healthcare, who is also the Director of “The Searle Company Limited,” Syed Nadeem Ahmed.
With the assistance of our country’s embassy, an online meeting was organized between the Director of the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Azizov, and the Special Representative of Pakistan on Healthcare, who is also the Director of “The Searle Company Limited,” Syed Nadeem Ahmed.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed in detail promising areas of bilateral cooperation, the attractiveness of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical market, its regulatory mechanisms and legal framework, as well as the conditions created in the country for the implementation of investment projects.
Syed Nadeem Ahmed noted that he had carefully studied Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical market and highly appreciates its potential. According to him, the company is currently exploring opportunities to implement a major investment project in Uzbekistan.
“Our company plans to implement a high-tech project for the production of next-generation medicines intended for the treatment of cardiovascular, oncological, and metabolic diseases. At present, work is underway to select the most suitable location for this project. The cities of Tashkent, Lahore, and Riyadh are being considered as potential sites. In addition, international consulting companies are developing a feasibility study for the project,” he said.
According to the Pakistani representative, tens of millions of US dollars in direct investment are planned to be attracted to launch this modern production facility.
In turn, the Uzbek side provided detailed answers to all questions of interest to the Pakistani partners and reported that the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry would provide comprehensive practical support during the implementation of the project.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize a working visit of the delegation of “The Searle Company Limited” to the city of Tashkent for a more in-depth study of the possibilities of implementing this investment project in Uzbekistan.
