At the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, a spiritual and educational event was organized to mark the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and commander, patron of science, culture, and the arts, Sahibqiran Amir Temur.
Compatriots temporarily and permanently residing in Pakistan took part in the event.
The event began with a speech by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Alisher Tukhtaev, who spoke about the essence and significance of the resolution of the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on widely celebrating the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great statesman and commander, patron of science, culture, and the arts, Amir Temur.
It was noted that the document was adopted to deeply study Amir Temur’s personality, his role in world history and the civilization of Turan, as well as to widely promote the rich and unique heritage of the Timurids both in Uzbekistan and abroad.
“The main goal of this resolution is to elevate to a new qualitative level the organizational, practical, scientific, and spiritual-educational work being carried out in this direction, taking into account the national and universal significance of the ‘Second Renaissance’ period and its great role and influence in educating the younger generation as builders of the New Uzbekistan,” the Ambassador said.
As emphasized, in accordance with the resolution, the 690th anniversary of Sahibqiran Amir Temur is being widely celebrated this year both in the country and abroad. The report also highlighted the distinctive features of Amir Temur’s diplomacy.
Compatriots participating in the event also shared their views on the legacy of Amir Temur.
Marguba Rizaeva, compatriot:
– I worked as a school teacher for many years, so I have read a lot about Sahibqiran Amir Temur and shared this knowledge with students. It is true that in the past, Amir Temur and our other great ancestors were taught very little in schools. Today, however, students have all the opportunities to study Amir Temur’s legacy in depth. We rightfully take pride in the statehood created by our ancestor Amir Temur. Based on economic, social, political, and spiritual principles, Amir Temur established a powerful centralized state in Movarounnahr. This vast empire also contributed to the rapid development of international trade and cooperation with Europe. He also patronized science and culture and paid great attention to construction and development. The legacy of Amir Temur is rightly a great treasure of the Uzbek people, and it is our duty to study it and pass it on intact to future generations.”
Jamila Arifbaeva, compatriot:
– We are very happy to celebrate the 690th anniversary of the birth of the great Sahibqiran Amir Temur in Pakistan. Amir Temur made a significant contribution not only to Uzbekistan but also to the development of South Asian countries. Therefore, his activities are being studied at the international level. In Pakistan as well, a number of research works have been conducted and several books have been written about Amir Temur. However, in my opinion, his campaigns in Pakistan and the constructive work he carried out here have not yet been fully studied. I believe that intensifying scientific research in this area in Pakistan will provide new information about Amir Temur that we do not yet know.
Other speakers also addressed the life and activities of our great ancestor Amir Temur, the statehood, science, and culture of the Timurid era, and the diplomacy of Amir Temur.
At the end of the event, the children of compatriots living in Pakistan recited excerpts from the “Temur’s Code” (“Temur Tuzuklari”).
