November 18 – Day of Adoption of the State Flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan
The flag of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted on November 18, 1991 at the VII session of the Supreme Council. This day is one of the important historical dates that expresses a strong belief in independence, national identity, unity and cohesion of our people.
Today, the flag of Uzbekistan, along with the flags of the independent states that are part of it, flies over the UN building.
After all, each flag has its own history, an image similar to the character of the country to which it belongs. Each element of our flag is worked with special attention. It is inspired by historical origins and noble symbols. Every color, every symbol on our flag has its own meaning. The blue color in it reflects strength, peace and stability. White color has always symbolized purity and innocence. Green color is a symbol of rebirth and renewal, as well as our native nature, our age-old values and our faith. Red stripes are the blood of our ancestors in our veins - a sign of eternity.
This symbol, personifying the independence, pride and high goals of our Motherland, calls each of us to unity, dedication and responsible service for the development of the Motherland.
