Prospects for cooperation with Pakistan in the field of urban planning and city management were discussed in Islamabad
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtaev met with the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa.
During the meeting, the current state and prospects of Uzbek-Pakistan relations, issues of establishing interregional cooperation and identifying potential areas of interaction were discussed.
Attention was paid to the possibilities of expanding trade, economic and investment partnerships, establishing the exchange of experience and specialists in the field of urban infrastructure development, as well as organizing mutual visits.
Muhammad Ali Randhawa noted the work being carried out within the framework of the memorandum signed between Islamabad and Tashkent during previous high-level visits, and emphasized the importance of its further intensification.
The representative of Pakistan proposed the establishment of twinning relations between Islamabad and Samarkand, which would help take brotherhood, mutual understanding and cooperation to a new level.
“Samarkand was the center of the Great Silk Road for many centuries. In addition, this city in ancient times played an important role in the development of international trade and the exchange of knowledge, forming cultural bridges between civilizations. We are ready to develop and sign a draft agreement on fraternal relations between the legendary city of Samarkand and Islamabad. As a symbol of mutual friendship and brotherhood, we can jointly explore the issue of naming one of the streets and parks of Islamabad after Uzbekistan. We invite Uzbek investors to invest in one of the parks of our capital and create an ecological park,” said the head of the Islamabad Development Authority.
The parties also considered the development of trade, economic and investment relations between the regions of Uzbekistan and the city of Islamabad, the implementation of joint projects in the field of tourism, transport and urban planning.
The meeting resulted in an agreement was reached on the exchange of experience in the field of urban planning, the expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties and the organization of joint events in all areas of interest to the parties.
