Uzbekistan–Türkiye: development of cooperation in the field of environmental protection
Uzbekistan and Turkey are consistently developing bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of ecology and environmental protection, paying special attention to the exchange of experience, the introduction of modern technologies and advanced training of specialists.
Representatives of the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change regularly take part in seminars, training courses and other events organized by international structures in the Republic of Turkey. Such formats of interaction contribute to strengthening professional connections and mastering advanced approaches in the field of environmental management.
One of the important stages of cooperation was a meeting with a delegation of the company OSTIM Energik, operating at the Middle East Industrial and Trade Center (OSTIM) of Turkey and specializing in clustering technologies in the field of renewable energy and ecology. During the negotiations, the parties discussed the prospects for joint work on the construction of atmospheric air purification systems, water treatment facilities, the development of renewable energy sources, as well as the processing of household and agricultural waste.
As part of the development of practical cooperation, a business trip was organized for the delegation of the State Center for Environmental Expertise under the Committee in order to study advanced foreign experience in the field of environmental impact assessment, including modern methods of environmental assessment and monitoring.
Also in Tashkent, a joint event was held to reduce the number of vehicles and strengthen environmental control over them with the participation of the Turkish company Cengiz Group. The initiative aimed to reduce pollutant emissions and increase environmental responsibility in the transport sector.
A separate area of interaction is related to the development of scientific and educational cooperation. A partnership has been established between the Turkish State Meteorological Service and the Hydrometeorological Research Institute of Uzbekistan in collaboration with the Faculty of Ecology of EGE University in Izmir, as well as the Central Asian University for Environmental and Climate Change Studies. This cooperation is focused on retraining specialists and improving their professional skills in the field of environmental protection and climate research.
Active interaction between the two countries continues at international platforms. As part of the Samarkand climate forum “Global climate problems and Central Asia - consolidation for common prosperity,” a youth session was held with the participation of representatives of Turkey, which became an important contribution to the formation of a new generation of environmental leaders.
An important stage was the participation of the delegation of the Committee on Ecology, led by Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on environmental issues Aziz Abdukhakimov in the international forum "Zero Waste" organized by the Zero Waste Foundation in Istanbul. During the forum, global approaches to reducing waste, developing a circular economy and introducing the principles of sustainable consumption were discussed.
In addition, a delegation from the Committee's Forestry Agency visited the Muğla region and the city of Antalya to study Turkey's best practices in forestry, sustainable management of forest resources and the prevention of ecosystem degradation.
Thus, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey in the field of ecology and environmental protection is systemic and multi-level in nature, covering technological, scientific, educational and institutional areas. The implementation of joint initiatives contributes to the implementation of modern environmental solutions, increasing the sustainability of natural ecosystems and strengthening international partnerships in the interests of sustainable development.
