Uzbekistan and the UAE agreed to hold consular consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs
Omar al-Shamsi emphasized that warm relations between the leaders of the two states serve as the basis of ties between Uzbekistan and the UAE.
In this context, he particularly noted the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the emirates, which took place in January of this year, and noted that he had brought bilateral relations to a strategic level.
At the meeting also an exchange of views was held on consular and legal issues between the countries.
The Deputy Head of the UAE Foreign Ministry announced his readiness to cooperate in creating all the necessary conditions for the residence of citizens of Uzbekistan in the emirates. Supporting proposals to organize consular consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, he noted that the Memorandum of Understanding, which is planned to be signed by the parties for the first time, is acceptable to the Emirati side and expressed readiness to sign this document in the near future.
The Emirati side has put forward the initiative to hold the first round of consultations in the first quarter of 2026 at a time convenient for both parties.
