Uzbekistan Airways Adds Third Weekly Flight to Islamabad
Uzbekistan Airways, the national airline of Uzbekistan, will introduce additional regular flights between Tashkent and Islamabad from 26 October.
Uzbekistan Airways, the national airline of Uzbekistan, will introduce additional regular flights between Tashkent and Islamabad from 26 October.
The airline currently operates the Tashkent–Islamabad–Tashkent route twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. From 26 October, the schedule will be revised, with services running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
The additional flights are intended to expand passenger capacity between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. They will also offer more convenience to tourists, business travellers and transit passengers. The revised schedule gives passengers greater flexibility when planning journeys and creates further opportunities to strengthen business, tourism and cultural ties between the two countries.
The new flights are expected to play an important role in increasing the number of Pakistani tourists travelling to Uzbekistan. They should also promote pilgrimage tourism and raise international awareness of Uzbekistan’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
Improved air connectivity will make it easier for tourists to visit Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva, key historic centres along the Great Silk Road. The enhanced schedule will also reinforce Tashkent’s role as a regional transport hub, opening up more opportunities for tourist trips to other Central Asian countries.
More than 20,000 tourists from Pakistan visited Uzbekistan in 2025. In the first nine months of this year, the figure reached nearly 20,000, which highlights the considerable potential for further developing tourism ties.
Overall, the increased frequency on the Tashkent–Islamabad route will strengthen transport connectivity, encourage two-way tourist flows, and support trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
A total of eight scheduled flights are currently operated between Uzbekistan and Pakistan each week. Four of these fly the Tashkent–Lahore route and two fly the Islamabad–Tashkent route, while services are also operated between Tashkent and Karachi. With the launch of the additional service, the total will rise to nine scheduled flights per week.
