Participants of the international scientific and practical conference on the topic “Maturidism - the teaching of generosity, moderation and enlightenment”

First of all, I sincerely congratulate you, dear ones, on the opening of the international conference dedicated to the 1155th anniversary of the birth of the great thinker Imam Abu Mansur Maturidi, which is held on the soil of Uzbekistan, in one of the most ancient cities - the majestic Samarkand, which made a huge contribution to the development of science and progress.

Welcome to our dear Motherland, to the beautiful city of Samarkand - the land of great scientists and thinkers!

Imam Maturidi, who received such high recognition as “Sultan of Science Kalam”, “Corrector of the Muslim Faith”, in the Middle Ages - in an era of intensified ideological struggle, created unique scientific and educational works that widely reveal the humanistic essence of the religion of Islam, fought irreconcilably against various harmful trends and ignorance, which, undoubtedly, is an example of true spiritual courage and feat.

It is commendable that the school and teaching of Maturidism, the foundation of which was laid by our great compatriot, has served for centuries in the field of faith and belief as a symbol of generosity, moderation and enlightenment.

At the present time, when subversive actions continue in new manifestations aimed at distorting the noble ideas of our sacred religion, their use in destructive purposes, this unfading teaching takes on even more relevant significance, and we highly appreciate that you, dear conference participants, of course understand this well.

Dear friends!

In New Uzbekistan, significant work is being done to comprehensively study and widely promote the instructive life path and rich scientific and spiritual heritage of thinkers who have made an invaluable contribution to the development of Islamic civilization, educating young people in the spirit of love for the Motherland, respect for national and universal values.

The Center for Islamic Civilization, international organizations operate in our country research centers named after our great ancestors such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Maturidi, Imam Termizi, the International Academy of Islamic Studies of Uzbekistan.

The scale of the work done in this area is also evidenced by the fact that over the past short period of time, these scientific centers have found unique manuscripts of the Koran and other sacred religious sources, their copies stored in foreign funds brought to our country, and many works of great personalities who made an unlimited contribution to the development of science and education were translated into Uzbek. In particular, it should be noted that for the first time, the books of Imam Maturidi “Tawilot al-Qur’on” and “Kitob at-tawhid” have been translated into Uzbek and presented to the attention of the general public.

We, together with international research institutions, with scientists like you, who have great authority in the Muslim world, pay special attention to even deeper study multifaceted life path and scientific heritage of Imam Maturidi, the current significance of his teachings.

For this purpose, we adopted a resolution on the widespread celebration of the 1155th anniversary of the birth of Imam Maturidi, specifically identified the tasks for the work ahead in this direction, in particular, expanding the memorial complex to our outstanding ancestor-thinker in Samarkand, turning it into an even more comfortable place worship.

It is known that based on the proposal of the participants of the international conference held in 2020 in the city of Samarkand, the International Scientific Research Center of Imam Maturidi was created at the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan.

I would like to especially note that, given the increasingly increasing importance today of the rich scientific and educational heritage of our great ancestor in on a global scale, as well as in order to further increase the status and authority of this Center, according to the recently signed Decree, the International Research Center of Imam Maturidi was reorganized under the Cabinet of Ministers.

I am confident that this center will serve as an international platform uniting scientists and ulema from different countries of the world in an in-depth study of the teachings of Maturidism and the invaluable contribution of Hazrat Imam Maturidi to the development of religion Islam.

I take this opportunity to express to you, dear ones, who have dedicated your lives to such a noble cause, my sincere gratitude for your painstaking work, constant desire for search and research on the path of studying the rich scientific and religious heritage of Imam Maturidi and other great thinkers who were raised by the Uzbek land, I wish you all health, new achievements in your subsequent activities, success to the conference.
