The project “Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” has started
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the opening ceremony of the international forum on artificial intelligence, held at the International Congress Center.
Before the start of the event, the head of state got acquainted with the presentation of projects and startups in the field of artificial intelligence created by the youth of our country.
In a conversation with talented young specialists, the President especially emphasized the strategic importance of the information technology sector, its decisive role in the sustainable development and competitiveness of the state. It was noted that the presented innovative developments in various directions clearly reflect the formation of a modern digital ecosystem in Uzbekistan and the practical results of the reforms being implemented.
At the same time, the head of state emphasized the importance of new mechanisms for supporting start-ups and technological initiatives, the widespread introduction of developments into the national economy and the introduction of successful projects to the international market.
Speaking at the opening of the forum, the President warmly welcomed all its participants.
He emphasized that in the 21st century, information technologies and digitalization processes are becoming the main criterion for the progress of any country.
Artificial intelligence today is turning not into a highly specialized tool, but into a fundamental factor that deeply penetrates all spheres of the economy, the public administration system and everyday life.
– It will not It is an exaggeration to say that the great scientists who glorified our civilization during the First and Second Renaissance - Muhammad al-Khorezmi, Abu Raykhon Beruni, Mirzo Ulugbek - made a huge contribution to the development of algorithms, mathematics and logic, thereby laying the foundations for current progress in the field of artificial intelligence,” the President noted.
The head of state especially emphasized that, being the heirs of this invaluable scientific heritage, we must be open to new technologies and turn them into a powerful support for the further development of the country.
The first step in transforming the field of artificial intelligence was the adoption of the National Strategy, based on best international experience.
As a result, the share of the digital economy in the country's GDP doubled. The volume of direct investments in the field of artificial intelligence and digital technologies has reached almost $2 billion.
Exports of IT services have grown 4.5 times in recent years and are close to $1 billion - this is a convincing confirmation of the effectiveness of the ongoing reforms.
In addition, the International Center for Digital Technologies was recently created, operating under a special regime based on English law.
The number of universities training IT specialists has almost tripled - to 145, the number of students has reached 80 thousand.
The “One Million Programmers” program launched in 2019 jointly with the United Arab Emirates has significantly expanded its scope: more than two million young people have been trained. Through the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation, about 100 of our talented young specialists are studying at leading universities in the world.
– We are confident that tomorrow, upon returning to their homeland, they will become the driving force behind the introduction of the most advanced achievements of artificial intelligence in education, economics and public administration,” the President emphasized.
Programs are also being implemented to integrate artificial intelligence into the education system and retrain teachers. and improving digital literacy in schools and universities.
Artificial intelligence technologies are already significantly increasing the efficiency of industries, primarily the quality of medical services.
Thus, thanks to the introduction of digital diagnostic systems, more than 50 thousand patients received an accurate conclusion using AI algorithms, which significantly reduced the burden on doctors and reduced service time by 5-7 times.
During the nationwide At the Health Marathon in Karakalpakstan, almost 4 thousand women aged 45–65 years underwent mammography. 70 percent of the initial images were analyzed by a domestic artificial intelligence platform, and 98 percent of the results were confirmed by doctors. The time for diagnosis has been reduced from several days to two hours.
The innovative ecosystem of IT startups is also actively developing: their number has increased 10-fold in recent years, the total volume of attracted investments has reached $300 million.
The President of our country called on international organizations and leading global companies participating in the forum for mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence in Uzbekistan.
According to foreign experts, artificial intelligence technologies in the next five years can create additional value of at least $10 billion in the economy of Uzbekistan.
Existing conditions and potential make it possible to achieve such high indicators.
The goal is to bring the export of IT services to $5 billion by 2030 and create thousands of high-income jobs for young professionals.
For the widespread implementation of the artificial intelligence ecosystem, next year, together with the American company Nvidia, a large supercomputer cluster will be launched in our country.
“Our strategic goal is to turn Uzbekistan not only into a consumer of modern technologies, but also into a country that creates them, exports them and successfully competes in the global market,” the President noted. – To promote domestic developments at the global level, we will open a National Technology Transfer Office in the US Silicon Valley, ensuring direct connections between our young professionals and startup founders with leading companies, investors and accelerators.
From now on, the country’s youth will learn skills in working with AI not only in schools, but also within the framework of the Kelajak center system in all regions.
A national competition for the best startup ideas in the field of artificial intelligence will be held annually among schools.
The winning schools in each of the 14 regions will create modern artificial intelligence laboratories and establish cooperation with leading companies for the commercialization of developments.
To identify talented youth and their further support, a Presidential competition in artificial intelligence will be established intelligence.
Every year, at the republican level, starting from the most remote areas, the 100 most gifted young specialists will be selected. They will undergo internships at leading technology companies in the USA, UAE and Europe. At the second stage, a similar system will be introduced for universities.
$100 million will be allocated for the implementation of all these tasks.
– Today, together with the United Arab Emirates, we are launching the “Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” project - a logical continuation of the “One Million Programmers” program. This is not just a program - these are new horizons of opportunity for our youth,” said the President.
As part of the project, by 2030 it is planned to train 4 million 750 thousand schoolchildren and students, 150 thousand teachers and 100 thousand government employees. Artificial intelligence will be integrated into school, vocational and higher education.
– I am confident that the “Five Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” program will become a driver of the economy and will give a powerful impetus to the rapid development of our country, the President noted.
Our talented and active youth are the pride and support of New Uzbekistan. Recently, a clear confirmation of this was again demonstrated by Zhavohir Sindorov, who won the World Chess Cup in India.

The President proposed to annually declare November as the month of artificial intelligence for youth and, within its framework, to hold the “Silk Road Artificial Intelligence Forum.”
