The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan summed up the results of fruitful negotiations
At the end of the high-level negotiations at the Kuksaroy residence, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov made statements for representatives of the media.
The head of our state expressed confidence that the current historic state visit will further strengthen the strategic partnership of the two fraternal countries and take it to new heights.
During the negotiations, priorities for joint work in the political, trade-economic, transport, water-energy and cultural-humanitarian spheres were identified.
The key direction is the expansion of trade, economic and cooperation ties.
Trade turnover has almost doubled in recent years, exceeding $1 billion. The goal is to increase its volume to $2 billion, primarily by expanding the range and increasing mutual supplies.
A special role in this is given to the Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone launched today. The parties intend to apply this experience in other border areas, primarily in the Alat-Farab region.
In order to strengthen the transport interconnectivity of the region, the governments were instructed to develop proposals for the development of road, rail and sea transportation, and the joint use of the international seaport of Turkmenbashi.
Particular attention is paid to energy issues. The commitment to further deepening cooperation on the supply and transit of electricity and the implementation of joint projects in the two countries was confirmed.
The parties will develop cooperation in the field of environmental protection and rational water use, including in the Central Asian region.
Another priority area is interregional cooperation. Regional forums were successfully held in Bukhara and Turkmenabad. The third forum will soon be held in Khiva with the participation of all regions of the two countries.
The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan successfully held in Urgench and Tashkent were noted with satisfaction. An agreement was reached to hold concerts and tours of theaters, youth forums, scientific intelligentsia and sports Olympiads on a regular basis.
The parties also agreed to promote practical cooperation in the field of healthcare and medical science.
Notable progress has been achieved in deepening regional cooperation within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan.
Confidence was expressed that the results of the seventh Consultative Meeting, held yesterday in Tashkent, will contribute to the processes of integration and strengthening of unity in the region.
The importance of continuing the practice of mutual support within the United Nations and other international structures was also emphasized.
In conclusion, confirmed mutual determination for the dynamic development of cooperation and achieving breakthrough results in the name of progress and prosperity of our fraternal countries.
