The Presidents of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan confirmed their commitment to further development of comprehensive cooperation
On November 15, at the Kuksaroy residence, negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took place in a narrow format.
It was emphasized that the current state visit will open a new milestone in the history of Uzbek-Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance.
It was noted with satisfaction that in preparation for the visit, a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission and a business forum, Kazakhstan Medicine Days were successfully held, a Kazakh cinema screening, Astana Days, and a number of cultural events were held in Tashkent.
Trade turnover from the beginning year amounted to 4 billion dollars. The goal is to bring this figure to 10 billion by increasing mutual supplies and import substitution. The volume of cargo transportation is growing, more than 40 flights a week are carried out between cities.
6.5 thousand joint ventures have been created, and major projects are being implemented in priority industries. In order to develop industrial cooperation, a portfolio of projects worth over $8 billion has been prepared. To promote such projects, it was proposed to launch a joint Investment platform.
During the negotiations, special attention was paid to expanding mutually beneficial partnerships in key areas such as energy, transport, chemical industry, agriculture and water management, environmental protection, IT and other areas.
The importance of further expanding interregional contacts was noted. An agreement was reached to hold the first Council of Regional Heads of the two countries in Kazakhstan in 2026.
The heads of state also exchanged views on issues of the regional and international agenda.
