The President of Uzbekistan advocated the adoption of a new Strategic Partnership Program with the IDB
On September 17, as part of the program of the International Forum “From Poverty to Prosperity”, held in the city of Namangan, a meeting was held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Islamic Development Bank Muhammad bin Sulaiman al-Jassir.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of this authoritative international financial organization sincerely congratulated on the successful holding of the forum and confirmed the IDB’s readiness to fully support the tasks of further reducing poverty in Uzbekistan.
Issues of further expanding full-scale cooperation with the Bank group in order to facilitate the implementation of the strategy of irreversible reforms were discussed in our country.
The dynamic development of the partnership with the IDB in recent years was noted with particular satisfaction. The joint portfolio of projects has exceeded $5 billion and today covers such priority areas as transport, infrastructure, housing construction, energy, healthcare, and education. At the same time, more than 40 percent of investments come from the private sector.
The head of our state advocated the adoption of a long-term Strategic Partnership Program with the IDB, which provides for doubling the portfolio of projects, increasing the volume of financing for infrastructure projects, the social sphere and the private sector.
Particular attention is paid to promoting specific projects in the field of unlocking the potential of private business, building modern medical centers in the regions of the country, modernizing roads, restoring and concreting irrigation canals and other areas.
