The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the fruitful partnership with UNICEF
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received on May 27 the Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Catherine Russell, who is in our country with visit.
Issues of further expansion of multifaceted cooperation with this leading specialized institution of the UN system were discussed.
At the beginning of the negotiations, the head of UNICEF conveyed to the leader of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings of the UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
The results of the ongoing reforms in our country were highly appreciated country, supported the national program in the field of ensuring rights and expanding opportunities for children.
During the meeting, deep satisfaction was expressed with the achieved level of interaction between Uzbekistan and UNICEF in recent years.
With the support of the Organization, a legislative act on the protection of children from violence, strategic documents in the field of social protection of the population and the fight against childhood oncology were adopted in our country. Support was provided in countering the coronavirus pandemic and developing the vaccination system.
The importance of implementing joint measures in the field of improving legislation, introducing new mechanisms for care and support for children, developing a system of social work and training, improving the availability and quality of social services, developing national standards, expanding social insurance, developing inclusive education and other priority areas was noted.
An agreement was reached on the adoption of a new Country Program before 2030, as well as jointly holding a number of international events on protecting the rights and promoting the interests of children.
