The President of Uzbekistan met with the Prime Minister of Italy
On January 19, in the city of Tashkent, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic Giorgia Meloni, who made a short stop in our capital country.
Practical aspects of further strengthening the Uzbek-Italian strategic partnership relations and expanding multifaceted cooperation were considered.
The consistent implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level in the city of Samarkand in May 2025 was noted with satisfaction.
Active contacts continue at different levels. Trade turnover and the number of joint ventures are growing at a steady pace. Interregional exchanges are expanding, including with Lombardy. Quotas have been allocated for organized labor migration of citizens of Uzbekistan.
In partnership with the companies Finopera, ANCI, Pietro Fiorentini, Danieli and others, large industrial cooperation projects are being implemented. At the end of last year, a branch of Tushia University was opened in Samarkand.
This year, meetings of the strategic dialogue between foreign ministries and the intergovernmental commission, the second Forum of Rectors are planned.
Priority attention is paid to promoting joint projects in the areas of the textile industry, geology, energy, chemistry, building materials, financial market and other priority directions.
An agreement was reached to hold cross Days of Uzbek and Italian cinema. Plans were supported for Uzbekistan’s participation in the next Venice Biennale, holding applied art exhibitions and exhibits in Milan this year.
An exchange of views on the international and regional agenda also took place.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited the Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni to visit our country with a separate visit.
