The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the head of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) Gianni Infantino on September 8.
At the beginning of the conversation, the FIFA President once again warmly congratulated the leader and people of Uzbekistan on the historical event - the national team’s entry into the final stage of the FIFA World Cup, which will be held in 2026 in the USA. It was emphasized that this well-deserved achievement is the practical result of the ongoing effective reforms, the attention paid to and full support for the development of sports in our country.
Issues of further expanding the productive partnership of Uzbekistan with this authoritative international structure were discussed, primarily in the field of further transformation of the system of organization and management of football, assistance in discovering young talents, training
at the international level coaches, referees, managers, sports doctors and technical specialists.
The continued close cooperation in the implementation of joint programs to popularize football, especially among young people, was noted with great satisfaction.
With the technical assistance of FIFA, a modern National Football Center was created, including a digital football situation center with the introduction of innovative solutions.
In the past The Futsal World Cup was successfully held in our country last year.
Particular attention was paid to organizing major FIFA tournaments and events in Uzbekistan.
An agreement was reached on opening a FIFA regional office for Central Asian countries in Tashkent. At the end of the meeting, for his personal contribution to the development and promotion of Uzbek football in the international arena, the President of Uzbekistan presented the head of FIFA Gianni Infantino with a high state award - the Order of Dustlik.
