The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation with Afghanistan
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuriddin Azizi, who is participating in the events of the Tashkent International Investment forum.
At the beginning of the conversation, the minister conveyed sincere greetings to the head of Uzbekistan from the leadership of Afghanistan.
Issues of further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade, economic, transport and logistics, energy and agricultural sectors, as well as in the field of geological exploration and mining were considered.
The intensification of business contacts was noted with satisfaction. The volume of mutual trade turnover and the number of joint ventures are growing; business missions and exhibitions are regularly held with the participation of companies from the two countries. The International Trade Center in the city of Termez operates successfully. In May of this year, trading houses opened in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.
The head of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of further strengthening the legal framework for economic and investment cooperation.
The need for the speedy construction of the Hairaton Industrial Center and the placement there of capacities for the production of pharmaceutical products, furniture, textiles, construction materials, as well as processing of agricultural products.
Support was expressed for the implementation of such large regional infrastructure projects as the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway and the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power line.
