The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of further expanding cooperation with UNESCO
In the city of Samarkand, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Director General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay.
The issues of further development of the multifaceted partnership of Uzbekistan with this authoritative UN institution were considered.
At the beginning of the conversation, Audrey Azoulay sincerely congratulated the head of our state on the historical event - the holding of the 43rd session of the General Conference of the Organization, which for the first time in the last 40 years is being held outside the UNESCO headquarters in the city Paris.
A positive assessment was given to the large-scale work of the Uzbek side in organizing the conference at the highest level, as well as saturating it with practically significant events. In particular, the launch of the UNESCO Regional Center for Preschool Education, the ceremony of awarding the winners of the Beruni Prize, a special event on the occasion of the 3000th anniversary of Samarkand, as well as forums on museums, artificial intelligence, gender issues and many others will take place.
The highest level of interaction between Uzbekistan and UNESCO achieved in recent years was noted with satisfaction. The World Conference on Childhood Education was jointly held, the 1050th anniversary of Beruni was celebrated in Paris, and an international prize was established in honor of this great scientist.
On the initiative of the Uzbek side, three important UNESCO resolutions were adopted. A number of new objects and cultural elements of Uzbekistan are included in the special lists of the Organization.
The readiness was expressed to further expand and deepen the partnership with UNESCO, to implement new joint projects in priority areas.
At the end of the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan for his great services in the development of ties in the field of science, education and culture, as well as personal contribution to the wide popularization of the rich cultural heritage of our people presented Audrey Azoulay with a high state award - the Order of “Dustlik”.
