The President of Uzbekistan noted progress in the process of accession to the WTO
On the sidelines of the 80th anniversary session of the UN General Assembly, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iwealoye.
Current aspects of strengthening practical cooperation in matters of our country’s accession to the WTO were considered.
Satisfaction was expressed with the dynamics of negotiations with member countries of this international organization.
Work is actively underway to harmonize national legislation in accordance with the norms and WTO rules, including in the field of technical regulation and food safety.
The importance of ensuring the effectiveness of the next meeting of the Working Group in November this year was noted, as well as taking measures to complete negotiations and the country’s accession to the organization in 2026.
