The President of Uzbekistan noted the great potential for cooperation with the Lombardy region
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Italian delegation led by the Governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana, who arrived in our country to participate in Tashkent Investment Forum.
Lombardy is one of the most populated and largest regions of Italy, one of the most economically developed areas in Europe.
Practical aspects of mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres.
With deep We were pleased with the fruitful results of the negotiations recently held in Samarkand with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, during which an agreement was reached to support interregional contacts.
Today in our country, projects on growing tomatoes, saffron, producing non-woven material and knitwear, and food products are being successfully implemented in our country with Lombardy companies. Projects for the production of finished textiles, auto electronics, building materials, processing of dairy and fruit and vegetable products, the development of public transport and others are being developed.
The importance of increasing the portfolio of joint projects, wider attraction of advanced Italian technologies and investments in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan was emphasized.
An agreement was reached to hold an exhibition of industrial and export potential of Uzbekistan, the opening of a trading house and the launch of an export line under the Uzbek Organic brand.
In order to expand cultural and humanitarian exchange, the organization of an exhibition of museum exhibits of Uzbekistan in Milan in 2026 is being worked out.
In turn, the governor expressed sincere gratitude to the President of our country for the services provided full support for projects and initiatives of the Lombardy business community. He confirmed his readiness to fully promote full-scale business partnerships with the regions of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the meeting, the head of our state wished Attilio Fontana success in the preparation and holding of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Milan in 2026.
