The President of Uzbekistan outlined the priorities for the development of multifaceted cooperation between the Turkic states
The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States on May 21, held in the city Budapest.
The event, chaired by the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, was also attended by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, as well as the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev.
In accordance with the agenda, an exchange of views took place on the state and prospects of multifaceted cooperation within the Organization, and current issues of practical interaction were discussed.
At the beginning of his speech, the head of Uzbekistan gave a deep assessment of the development of the situation in the world, characterized by strengthening geopolitical and geo-economic contradictions, aggravation of regional conflicts and the negative consequences of change climate.
The President noted the importance of strengthening the common approaches and positions of the states of the Organization in solving pressing international problems, relying primarily on the norms of international law and the UN Charter.
Regarding the development of practical cooperation within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States, the leader of Uzbekistan pointed out the presence of huge untapped potential and made a number of new proposals.
In political terms, the relevance of signing the Treaty on Strategic Partnership, Eternal Friendship and Brotherhood of Turkic States, initiated by the Uzbek side, was emphasized. Confidence was expressed that this document will serve to further bring peoples closer together and strengthen the long-term legal framework for multilateral cooperation.
The President paid special attention to the development of trade, economic, investment, transport and communication cooperation. Thus, in order to increase the share of mutual trade in the total foreign trade turnover of the countries of the Organization, it was proposed to create an online platform “TURK-TRADE” and adopt a Practical program for increasing trade turnover.
To ensure the growth of cargo transportation volumes along the Trans-Caspian international corridor and simplify customs and border procedures, the head of Uzbekistan called for the speedy implementation of “single window” systems and “green corridors” along this route. In order to expand cooperation in this direction, the International Forum of Turkic States on Multimodal Transport and Logistics is planned to be held in November this year in Tashkent.
Welcoming the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund, the President also emphasized the importance of creating a Joint Venture Company to support innovative projects and a single portal where investment opportunities of the Organization's member countries will be presented.
In order to increase cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation, it has been proposed to develop a special program for the creation of large production capacities in the chemical, energy, mining, light, pharmaceutical, leather and footwear, food and construction industries.
Touching on the climate agenda, the head of our state noted with satisfaction that during the International Climate Forum held recently in Samarkand, A number of important initiatives have been put forward to strengthen global and regional cooperation in the field of green development. The initiative of the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban to launch the Institute for Drought Prevention in the city of Budapest was supported.
To facilitate its activities and wider involvement in targeted projects, it was proposed to develop a joint “road map” to prevent drought and environmental problems.
The President of Uzbekistan paid special attention to the development of cooperation in the field of science, culture and education. It was emphasized that the opening of the International University of Turkic States in the city of Tashkent will be a worthy contribution to the implementation of educational programs and the training of talented youth of the Organization’s member countries.
The Leader of Uzbekistan also proposed to develop proposals for improving the activities and structure of the International Organization of Turkic Culture - TURKSOY, as well as to hold a regular meeting of the Council of the Turkic Culture Foundation in Uzbekistan.
At the end of his speech, the President of Uzbekistan congratulated the outstanding Turkish scientist, biochemist, Nobel Prize winner Aziz Sanjar on being awarded the Alisher Navoi International Prize.
As a result of the summit, the Budapest Declaration was adopted, as well as a number of other documents on priority areas of interaction.

As part of the program of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States in Budapest, a ceremony was held to award the Alisher Navoi International Prize “For Contribution to the Unity of the Turkic World.”
This year, its winner was a famous Turkish biochemist, Nobel Prize laureate, honorary doctor of the National University of Uzbekistan Aziz Sanjar.
In connection with the award, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev cordially congratulated Aziz Sanjar and especially noted that presenting a prestigious award to a representative of the scientific community will inspire scientists of the Turkic world, including youth, to conquer new heights.
Prize of the Organization of Turkic States named after the outstanding Uzbek thinker and statesman Alisher Navoi was established on the initiative of the head of our state in 2021. It is awarded every two years for special contributions to the promotion of Turkic culture, maintaining peace, ensuring security and building trust, as well as expanding cooperation between Turkic peoples in various fields.
The prize was first awarded in 2022 to the Kyrgyz writer and public figure Chingiz Aitmatov posthumously.

On May 20, the head of our state held negotiations with the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban in a limited and expanded format, the Speaker of the National Assembly László Kövér, as well as met with the heads of leading Hungarian banks and companies.
Today, the leader of Uzbekistan took part in the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States, putting forward a number of important initiatives aimed at expanding multilateral cooperation.
Upon completion of the events, Shavkat Mirziyoyev left for an official visit to Slovenia. Hungarian officials saw off the distinguished guest at Liszt Ferenc International Airport.
