The President inspected the enterprise for the production of high-voltage cables
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on February 13, during a trip to the Akhangaran district of the Tashkent region, got acquainted with the activities of the Enco Group enterprise, specializing in the production of high-voltage cable products.
In our country, large-scale work is underway to intensively modernize the energy sector, build new power plants and substations, update trunk networks and widely introduce renewable energy sources.
The growing demand for electricity due to the growth of economic sectors and an increase in population requires the development of high-voltage power lines. Therefore, there remains a stable demand for high-voltage cables in the domestic and foreign markets.
The Enco Group enterprise, aimed at meeting this demand, is being built on an area of 21 hectares in the Eltech Industrial technology park in partnership with the Belarusian company Energokomplekt. The total cost of the project is approximately $60 million. Once the enterprise reaches full capacity, 600 new jobs will be created.
The project is being implemented in two stages. It is expected that the enterprise will produce 25 thousand tons of products per year, and the export potential will be 300 million dollars.
Currently, the first stage of construction work has been completed by 98 percent, more than 10 million dollars of investments have been disbursed. It is planned to export the company's products to Germany, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria and the CIS countries. According to preliminary estimates, the annual export volume should be $140 million.
Last year, high-voltage cable products and insulated copper busbars worth about $400 million were imported into our country. After the enterprise reaches full capacity, it will be possible to produce import-substituting products worth $150 million.
It is noted that Uzbekistan accounts for 4 of the 12 enterprises operating in this industry in Central Asia. This indicates that the electrical industry in our country is gradually becoming a sector that creates high added value.
The head of our state was presented with further plans for the development of the enterprise, proposals for expanding production volumes and product range, as well as increasing the level of localization.
The President gave relevant instructions to the responsible persons on expanding industrial cooperation, efficient use of local raw materials, implementation advanced technologies and further increasing the production of competitive and export-oriented products.
